Rebecca McAllum at Jan Juc Legal is coastal-founded practice, now working with businesses across Australia.
The work has grown well beyond where it started — both in reach and in complexity — and today focuses on supporting businesses as they build, scale and navigate more considered legal decisions.
The practice
Jan Juc Legal was founded in 2023 with the intention of doing things differently.
Legal advice shouldn’t feel rushed, overly technical or reactive. The practice began as a quieter alternative to the more formal legal model: something a little less rigid, more relaxed, and more grounded in how people and businesses actually operate. Our values were pinned to transparency, genuine care and a love for our natural environment.
That philosophy still underpins the practice today but the work has evolved.
The direction
Much of the work now sits within business and commercial law, particularly where businesses are growing, becoming more complex, or facing increased risk.
This includes:
• commercial contracts and agreements
• employment and contractor arrangements
• business and commercial disputes
• privacy and data considerations
• supply chain and compliance matters
• intellectual property protection
The focus is not just on preparing documents — but on helping businesses make informed decisions, manage risk, and put the right structures in place as they grow.
Clients are based locally as well as across Australia and typically include:
start-ups or established businesses
professional service providers, including law firms
e-commerce and product-based brands
consultants and service-based businesses
creatives — designers, studios and digital businesses
wellness and lifestyle brands
Often, they are at a point where the business is scaling, risk is increasing or the legal side needs to catch up with the reality of how things are operating.
Rebecca McAllum, the lawyer and founder:
Rebecca McAllum has a broad legal background spanning litigation, corporate and commercial law, public and administrative law, regulatory matters, and international human rights.
With over 15 years’ experience in the legal field, including more than a decade in practice, her work across both disputes and advisory matters shapes a practical and considered approach.
Rebecca now works closely with businesses as they grow, helping them navigate risk, compliance, structure agreements and make informed decisions with confidence.
Based on the Surf Coast, she is a Jan Juc local who spends much of her time in and around the water: a lifestyle that continues to influence the way the practice operates: considered, grounded and intentionally different.
