Our Team
Rebecca McAllum
Legal Director and Principal Lawyer
Rebecca has over 15 years of legal experience spanning corporate and commercial law, litigation, public and administrative law, regulatory matters, and international human rights. She is admitted to practice in Victoria (and previously New Zealand) and holds a Masters of International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford.
That breadth of background is unusual in a boutique practice, and it shapes a way of working that is both commercially grounded and genuinely strategic. Rebecca has worked across disputes and advisory matters — she understands how legal problems develop, and how to head them off before they do.
She has been on the Surf Coast for 8 years (she’s originally a kiwi, so please don’t hold that against her) and spends much of her time in and around the ocean and that lifestyle continues to influence how the practice runs: unhurried, thoughtful, and grounded in what actually matters.
Rebecca works closely with each and every client.
Qualifications and Memberships:
Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria;

Admitted Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand;
Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Auckland (BA/LLB(Hons)); and
Masters of International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford, UK (MSt now MSc).
Paddy Horoch
Law Graduate / PLT Student
Paddy grew up at Bells Beach and studied law at Deakin University, graduating in 2025. He joined Jan Juc Legal because the work actually means something to the people walking through the door — and that matters to him.
Paddy brings a straightforward approach to legal problems: find the clearest path, explain it plainly, and get on with it. Outside the office, he's usually in the water, somewhere else in the world, or working out how to be both at once.
The practice
Jan Juc Legal was established in 2023 by Rebecca McAllum with a simple intention: to provide legal advice that is clear, considered and actually useful without the formality, rigidity or billing surprises that have come to define the traditional legal model.
We are a boutique commercial practice, working with founders, business owners and growing organisations across Australia. Our focus is on building genuine relationships, understanding how our clients' businesses operate, and providing strategic legal support as they grow.
Much of our work sits within business and commercial law: contracts and agreements, employment, compliance, risk and IP. We also continue to provide wills and estate planning services for clients on the Surf Coast, including complex estates and testamentary trusts.
We are based in Jan Juc on Victoria's Surf Coast, and offer both in-person consultations at the Workers Hut in Torquay and remote appointments for clients across Australia.
