Your business probably doesn’t need a full-time in-house lawyer.
But it does need legal support that keeps up.
At Jan Juc Legal by Rebecca McAllum, we work with founders, directors and growing businesses as their external legal counsel and legal partner — supporting contracts, decision-making, risk and compliance as things evolve.
Rebecca McAllum brings over 15 years of legal experience, including corporate law, regulatory work and contract drafting at scale. What that means for you: advice that's commercially grounded, not just legally correct.
We work with e-commerce brands, wellness and fitness businesses, professional services, product-based suppliers and anyone building something worth protecting.

When a client doesn’t pay, it’s not just frustrating — it impacts how your business operates.
We work with businesses to recover outstanding debts and navigate statutory demands, whether you’re looking to take action or responding to one that’s been served on you.
This includes assessing your position, identifying any risks or timeframes, and advising on the most effective next step — from issuing a statutory demand through to responding or negotiating a resolution.
Our focus is on clear, commercially sensible outcomes, without unnecessary complexity.
Typical Fees
Fees vary depending on the complexity of the matter and the stage at which we become involved. As a guide:
Issuing a statutory demand: from $1,500 + GST
Advising on or responding to a statutory demand: from $1,500 + GST
Ongoing advice or negotiations: $550 per hour (incl. GST)
Where appropriate, we offer fixed fees for discrete pieces of work. More complex matters or urgent timeframes may require tailored scoping.

Signing a commercial or retail lease is one of the most significant legal commitments your business will make. Before you sign — or renew — get a lawyer across it. We'll review the lease terms, explain what you're agreeing to in plain English, flag the risks, and advise on where there's room to negotiate.
This is particularly important if you're taking on your first premises, renewing an existing lease, or inheriting lease obligations as part of a business purchase. In Victoria, the Retail Leases Act 2003 imposes specific obligations on landlords before a lease is signed — we'll make sure those have been met and that you're not signing away more than you realise.
$1,250 (excl. GST) includes:
Review of your retail or commercial lease
Identification of key risk areas and unusual or unfavourable terms
Advice on negotiating amendments where appropriate (negotiation not included); and
Written summary of findings and recommendations

Buying or selling a business involves more moving parts than most people expect — goodwill, restraint of trade clauses, employee entitlements, asset vs share sale structure, due diligence and settlement conditions. Getting the legal side wrong at this stage can be costly and difficult to undo.
We advise business buyers and sellers on the legal aspects of transactions: reviewing and drafting contracts, identifying risk areas, and making sure you understand exactly what you're agreeing to before you commit. Whether you're buying your first business or selling something you've spent years building, we'll make sure the legal documentation reflects the deal you actually negotiated.
Starting from $3,000 (excl. GST) — scope and pricing confirmed at initial consultation.
A Business Legal Session ($550 excl. GST) is a good starting point if you're in early stages and want to understand what's involved before committing.
